To really really understand what takes place in cells to produce cancer we need to look at normal cells. These cells are the building blocks of the human body and they grow and divide in a controlled and limited way. The cells in the body are able to replace those which are at the end of their normal cycle which are killed by daily wear and tear. These cells are replaced by individual cells growing in size as well existing cells dividing to form new cells. When tissue in the body is injured the cells are able to repair the injury by speeding up their replication to replace the damaged tissue. A vital attribute of normal cells is that they do not continue to divide unchecked, the replication will slow down to normal when the repair has been completed.
